Rate Your Employer – The QA Edition
by Necro on Jan.05, 2010, under Rate Your Employer
We all know testing jobs are a dime a dozen. Companies treat us poorly and we are let go first when any down sizing occurs or projects wrap up. So here is a outlet for you to blow off some steam by rate your employer. As much as we like hearing about how EA for example sucks to work for, try and give some pros and cons in your review. Remember to not disclose any knowledge about unreleased titles or anything that might break your NDA and get you sued. But also don’t hold back your discontent either.
In your review please include the name and location of the studio you worked if the company has more then one studio. Ready, FIGHT! (continue reading…)
Modern Warfare 2 Glitch unlock SNK XBLA titles for free…Kinda
by Necro on Aug.12, 2010, under News
Video games are no strangers to bugs and glitches. Bugs have been present ever since the earliest days of gaming. Most are harmless. Some, such as the memorable “minus world” glitch in the original Super Mario Bros, are famous. Still others, like the MechAssault glitch which led to the hacking of the original Xbox system, are infamous. While you may not have heard of it yet, the next glitch that’s sure to get everyone talking has hit the Xbox 360 by way of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Affecting both the downloadable demo as well as the full version game, the Modern Warfare 2 glitch grants players access to the full versions of five different SNK Xbox Live Arcade games. (continue reading…)

Beware This Ruinous Prince of Persia Glitch
by Necro on May.18, 2010, under News
Stephen Totilo found a real nasty bug in Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands on the Xbox 360. To sum it up. He died while saving at one point in the game. When he reloaded he was stuck in a room. Because you can only have one save file he had to start the game over again. Fun times eh. Way to go Ubisoft. Seems this is a reoccurring issue with their games.
To read what Stephen had to say about this glitch and to watch his 3 video clips click the link.

Tunneled Vision: The Upper Floor Of Video Game Industry

A guy I know, after getting knocked out in a cage fight told me: “In a second, my eyesight became like a long dark tube with the referee waving at the other end.” At the heart of the Bobby Kotick Vs West/Zampella scandal, that quote came back to me like the ghost of Christmas past. Now that the dust has went down, it’s worth it to examine the question a little further. The turmoil around Bobby and his crazed lust of power has to do with the video game industry’s problem with vision. Let’s not concentrate on the symptoms and think about the cause of that eyesight disease so this article might be a baby step in the direction of an eventual cure. (continue reading…)
